Hailing the golden light,
Blessing Thy hand for the dawning,
Thanking Thee for the night.
Lord, let Thy goodness surround us,
Leading us all the day;
O, may the love that has found us
Through all our journey stay!

2 Hold Thou our hearts in Thy keeping,
Guide us, for Jesus’ sake;
Thou, who didst watch o’er us sleeping,
Care for us when we wake.
Father, O keep us from sinning!
Pardon our errors past!
Help Thou love’s feeble beginning,
Fit us for heav’n at last!

Susan Ketchum Bourne was the widow of the Rev. Shearjashub Bourne. She was largely identified with church and missionary work in the Congregational church of Manhattan, and was an active and charter member of Sorosis.
