Representative Text

1 God is our refuge and our strength,
A very present help indeed;
He in the time of trouble sends
His grace to meet our ev'ry need.

Refrain:
God is our refuge.
God is our refuge.
With mighty arm revealed,
He is our help and shield.
God is our refuge and our strength.

2 Safe in His tender loving care,
We have no fear of what shall be,
E'en tho' the earth should be removed
And mountains cast into the sea. [Refrain]

3 Sure, in the city of our King
Secure we rest from all alarm;
For God is in the midst of her,
To shield His people from all harm. [Refrain]

4 While heathen rage and kingdoms move,
And desolation sweeps the land;
The Lord of hosts is with us still,
To save us by His mighty hand. [Refrain]

5 Soon will the day of vict'ry come,
When wars shall cease from all the earth;
Soon shall eternal peace be ours,
And new Creation have her birth. [Refrain]
