Representative Text

1 Happy little workers for the Savior King,
All His tender care we know;
Lives for willing service unto Him we bring,
Just because He loves us so.

Refrain:
Happy little workers, happy little workers,
Walking in the narrow way;
Happy little workers for the Savior King,
Looking unto Him each day.

2 Happy little workers for the Savior King,
We will try His will to do;
In our hearts His sweet voice tenderly doth ring—
“To the trust I give be true.” [Refrain]

3 Happy little workers for the Savior King,
Helping in our own small way;
Joyfully His praises we will ever sing,
Faithfully His word obey. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
