Lead us onward

Representative Text

1 Hark! the call to service, loyal ones and true,
Fall in line together, glad His work to do;
At His word we rally, by His grace we go,
Bravely marching on to face the foe.

Refrain:
Shouting, singing, loud our voices ring,
“Vict’ry, vict’ry, thro’ the mighty King!”
Shouting, singing, swell the glad refrain,
We’ll win all the world for Jesus.

2 Day by day we follow, with the cross in sight,
Waving high above us, crowned with glory light;
God is ever with us, we must not delay,
Win the world for Jesus while we may. [Refrain]

3 Girded for the battle, wield the Spirit’s sword;
We must never fail Him, fighting for the Lord;
In His glorious army bravely take a stand,
Ready for the fight at His command. [Refrain]

Author: Lizzie DeArmond

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
