Old, and yet ever new;
Telling God’s love eternal,
Faithful and strong and true;
Let us show love to others
Keep this command in view:

“Be ye not hearers only;
Ye must be doers, too!

2 Hearing of God’s forgiveness,
Wondeful, broad, and free;
What is the daily duty,
Nearest to you and me?
Let us forgive each other,

3 Hearing of the heav’nly glory,
After life’s race is run;
Shall we not, faithful steadfast,
Labor till set of sun?

Ida Lilliard Reed, 1865-1951 Born: November 30, 1865, near Ar­den, Bar­bour Coun­ty, West Vir­gin­ia. Died: Ju­ly 8, 1951, Ar­den, West Vir­gin­ia. Buried: Eb­e­nez­er Meth­odi­st Church, Ar­den, West Vir­gin­ia. Reed is said to have writ­ten 2,000 hymns in her life­time.
