Representative Text

1 Heav’ns windows are not open wide,
There’s dearth in all the land today,
The times have chang’d, but God has not,
His challenge is the same alway:

Refrain:
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse;
And prove me now,” saith the Lord your God;
“And I will pour you out such a blessing,
There will not be room enough to contain it,”
Heap’d up, press’d down,
Shaken together,
And running over.

2 God’s choicest blessings are withheld,
He tells us in His holy word;
Because your sins between us come
And separate us from our Lord. [Refrain]

3 The vine yields not her richest fruit,
And tares grow up in place of wheat,
God is not pleas’d to have it so;
O let us seek His mercy seat. [Refrain]
