Representative Text

1 Herre Gud, vi var i Nød,
Os stod for den visse Død
Stormen bruste over Hav,
Grov for os saa dyb en Grav,
Men, hvor høit end Søen slog,
Du af dybe Vande drog,
Og af Dødens Svælg os tog.

2 Takket være du, vor Gud,
Som os arme Synd're ud
Af den Fare haver rykt,
Vækket os ved denne Frygt!
Giv os, at din Fader-Tugt
Være maa en salig Frugt,
Blive til vor Bedring brugt!

3 Gud forlad os al vor Synd,
Drag os ud deraf med Fynd!
Ved din Aand bered os vel,
At vor arme, syndig' Sjæl
Færdig al Tid findes maa
Til fra Verden bort at gaa,
Og for Dommens Stol at staa!
