Stones of Help

Representative Text

1 Hitherto the Lord has helped us,
Christ has brought us all the way,
Long or short the pilgrim journey,
This, our hearts can truly say:

Chorus:
Hitherto, yes, hitherto,
Christ has proved his promise true;
Hitherto, yes, hitherto,
Christ has proved his promise true.

2 Hitherto the Lord has blessed us,
Here a "Stone of help" we raise,
Here we tell how Jesus led us,
Here we lift our songs of praise. [Chorus]

3 Hitherto the Lord has led us,
"Stones of help" are multiplied;
In temptation, trouble, danger,
He has been our Friend and Guide. [Chorus]

4 Hitherto the Lord has guarded,
Bending low to hear our prayer;
From this day our loving Saviour
Still will make our lives his care. [Chorus]
