Light from heaven

Representative Text

1 How blessed is the morning light,
It shines from heav'n above;
It makes the gloomy regions bright,
And fills the heart with love.

Refrain:
Shine on, O! blessed light,
In ev'ry mortal's breast,
Let not thy soothing rays decline,
Till sinners find sweet rest.

2 Great multitudes in darkness grope,
And stumble on their way;
They live and die and have no hope,
Of an eternal day. [Refrain]

3 The earth was wholly lost in sin,
When Christ the Lord came down;
Men felt redeeming light within,
While glory shone around. [Refrain]

4 Shine on, in splendor, godly light,
Let not thy warmth decrease;
Lead men to realms of glory bright,
Where dwells eternal peace. [Refrain]
