God Was There

Representative Text

1 How oft I’ve walked life’s weary road,
Encumbered with my care;
But some one lifted all my load,
I found that God was there.

God was there to hear my prayer,
To lift my load of anxious care,
To ev’ry burden with me share,
God was there, yes, God was there.

2 When gates were barred and doors were closed,
No outlet anywhere;
When hope had fled, as I supposed,
I found that God was there.

God was there to hear my prayer,
To lift my load of anxious care,
To ev’ry burden with me share,
God was there, yes, God was there.

3 Tho’ many problems I must face,
Tho’ burdens I must bear;
I trust the wonders of His grace,
I know that God is there.

God is here my heart to cheer,
To drive away all anxious fear;
His voice of love my soul can hear,
God is here, yes, God is here.
