Tho’ thou hast left My chosen way,

Tho’ I had left my Friend so true,
And lost the joy that once I knew,
He call’d in love and pity too,

Thy loving voice no longer pleads in vain;

2 Tho’ I had strayed, His voice I heard,

Could I reject His loving word?

My sorrows He had helped me bear,
He kept me in His tender care,
To plead for pardon do I dare?

3 I slighted Him, He called me still,

How sweet it is to do His will,
