Representative Text

1 I heard my Master gently say,
“Come back to Me, come back to Me;”
Tho’ thou hast left My chosen way,
“Come back, come back to me.”
Tho’ I had left my Friend so true,
And lost the joy that once I knew,
He call’d in love and pity too,
“Come back, come back to me.”

Refrain:
Come back, come back,
Thy loving voice no longer pleads in vain;
I’ll seek Thy loving arms again;
Come back, come back.

2 Tho’ I had strayed, His voice I heard,
“Come back to Me, come back to Me;”
Could I reject His loving word?
“Come back, come back to me.”
My sorrows He had helped me bear,
He kept me in His tender care,
To plead for pardon do I dare?
“Come back, come back to me.” [Refrain]

3 I slighted Him, He called me still,
“Come back to Me, come back to Me;”
How sweet it is to do His will,
Lord, I come back to Thee.
Now bid my ev’ry ear depart,
And give me peace within my heart,
I’ll nevermore from Thee depart,
Lord, I have come to Thee. [Refrain]
