Dear Friend of Hymnary,

As you know, we don't ask for money too often. But we're asking now.

So before you hit the "close" button on this box, please consider a donation to keep Hymnary going.

More than half a million people come here every month -- worship leaders, hymnologists, hymn lovers and more -- people who now have access to the most complete database of North American hymnody on the planet thanks to this site. But keeping all of this afloat does not come without a cost, and we have limited sources of revenue. So if you benefit from Hymnary.org, would you please consider a donation today? Even small amounts help, and they also let us know you're behind us and support what we do.

You can make your tax-deductible contribution by clicking the Donate button below, or you can send a check to Hymnary at 3201 Burton SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

Full Text

1 If you would be a pillar in the church of God,
You must overcome the world,
You must overcome the world;
Die to fame and reputation, take the path that Jesus trod,
If you would be a pillar in the church of God.

Refrain:
He that overcometh shall be clothed in white,
And shall eat the hidden manna in the realms of light;
Reign on earth as king with Jesus, in the Word we’re told,
And in heaven shall forever walk the streets of gold.

2 If you would be a pillar in the church of God,
You must triumph over sin,
You must triumph over sin;
And be cleansed from every evil through the Savior’s precious blood,
If you would be a pillar in the church of God. [Refrain]

3 If you would be a pillar in the church of God,
You must conquer in His name,
You must conquer in His name;
Take the holy Bible way, and live beneath the cleansing flood,
If you would be a pillar in the church of God. [Refrain]

Select Hymns, 1911 (Timeless Truths)

Author: William J. Henry

Originally from Ohio, Henry was an early leader in the Holiness Movement near Boyertown, Pennsylvania. In 1889 he, answered a call to hold revival meetings in eastern Pennsylvania. Denominational leaders had received requests from congregations there, but had no one to send. Though Henry was only 22 years old, he proved a very effective organizer. He toured eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey for several months each year till 1895. He became a very active evangelist and song writer, holding meetings in every American state and in Britain. --www.hymntime.com/tch… Go to person page >
