Representative Text

1 I’ll follow Jesus here, I’ll never, never fear,
Tho’ Satan’s tempting pow’rs assail;
And tho’ I’m tempted sore,
I’ll trust Him evermore,
For thro’ His grace I shall prevail.

I’ll follow, I’ll follow,
I’ll follow Jesus all the way;
I’ll follow, I’ll follow,
To the home of everlasting day.

2 I’ll follow by His side, whatever may betide,
Tho’ perils thickly throng the way;
Tho’ billows deep may roll, there’s naught can harm my soul,
For He is with me night and day. [Refrain]

3 I’ll follow all the way, I’ll never, never stray,
This world no more can win my love;
I’ve left it all behind, more lasting joys to find,
My treasures all are stored above. [Refrain]

4 I’ll follow, follow on until the crown is won,
And heaven’s gates unfold to me;
Then with my harp in hand I’ll join that happy band,
And praise Him thro’ eternity. [Refrain]

Author: William J. Henry

Originally from Ohio, Henry was an early leader in the Holiness Movement near Boyertown, Pennsylvania. In 1889 he, answered a call to hold revival meetings in eastern Pennsylvania. Denominational leaders had received requests from congregations there, but had no one to send. Though Henry was only 22 years old, he proved a very effective organizer. He toured eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey for several months each year till 1895. He became a very active evangelist and song writer, holding meetings in every American state and in Britain. --www.hymntime.com/tch… Go to person page >
