1 I’m glad that I have a “Good Shepherd,”
So patient as Jesus can be;
I know that He loves little children,
And so I am sure He loves me.

Refrain:
‘Tis Jesus, my Shepherd who loves me,
He calls me His own little lamb;
I know that He always will bless me,
And I’ll love Him wherever I am.

Who helps me His word to obey;
He walks at my side and He leads me,

Carrie Ellis Breck was born 22 January 1855 in Vermont and raised in a Christian home. She later moved to Vineland, New Jersy, and then to Portland, Oregon. She wrote verse and prose for religious and household publications, In 1884 she married Frank A. Breck. She has written between fourteen and fifteen hundred hymns.
