In the world ye shall have tribulation

Representative Text

1 In the world ye shall have tribulation,
This promise of Jesus is true;
Through sorrow and toil and temptation
My journey toward home I pursue.

Chorus:
While I trust in the word he has spoken.
My fears and my doubtings all cease;
His promise is sure and unbroken,
I know that in him I have peace.

2 Peace flows like a beautiful river,
Refreshing and cheering my soul;
From the heart of the almighty giver
Its rolls and forever will roll. [Chorus]

3 Some times 'tis disturbed by death crossing,
The surface is lashed into foam;
But it ceases its turbulent tossing
As soon as the soul reaches home. [Chorus]

4 I feast on the grand prelibation
Of love, peace, and joy, all complete,
Which never shall know limitation
When I on his throne take my seat. [Chorus]

5 Then perish each earthly desire,
And welcome earth's trials and woes;
Christ furnishes all I require,
His peace in my soul overflows. [Chorus]
