She was right. We only ask for money twice a year, and we do so because we need it.

1 جعل ربي شعبهُ
في مِصر مثمرا
أعزّه على العِدى
فدام مُزهرا
حوّل ضدَّ شعبهِ
عداوة الأشرارْ
موسى وهارون لهم
أرسلَ بالإنذارْ

2 فأجريا بينهمْ
آياتِهِ العظامْ
وصنعا عجائباً
حيرت الأفهامْ
مد العلي يمينهُ
للضرب والإهلاكْ
فحول الماءَ دما
وقتل الأسماكْ

3 أفاض في بيوتهمْ
جيشَ الضفادعِ
فدخلت وملأت
كل المخادعِ
ثم الذبابُ قد أتى
بحسب الأمرِ
كذا بعوضٌ آكلٌ
يلسعُ كالجمرِ

4 وبرداً أمطرهم
ناراً لها التهابْ
فأحرقت أشجارهمْ
والكرمَ والأعشابْ
كل نباتٍ أخضرٍ
أكله الجرادْ
وظُلمةٌ أرسلها
في وسط البلادْ

5 واستل سيفاً قاتلاً
وضرب الأبكارْ
أخرج كلَّ شعبهِ
باليسرِ والفخارْ
ومِصرُ في خروجهمْ
شملَها السرورْ
لأن رعبهم أتى
وأزعج الجمهورْ
