Jesus, the mighty work achieved

Representative Text

1 Jesus, the mighty work achieved,
The offered vinegar received;
Then, knowing that His hour was near,
Cried, It is finished, loud and clear.

2 Attend, my soul; to thee doth cry
The Son of God, who reigns on high:
All that for thy release sufficed
Is finished, saith the dying Christ.

3 Finished for thee the Law's command,
Finished redemption's dread demand,
Finished what prophets spake of old,
Finished the grace thou shalt behold.

4 The praises of my grateful heart
Take, Lord, for all Thou dost impart:
Thy work's perfection--wondrous feat--
My incompleteness makes complete.

5 Help me, my Savior, day by day
To tread where Thou hast shown the way;
And finish, in obedience true,
The work Thou givest me to do.

Amen.
