Representative Text

1 Let us sing the blessed story,
Of the Saviour’s wondrous love,
How He left His throne in glory,
Came to earth from heav’n above;
Came to ransom fallen sinners,
Came to die for you and me,
Left His throne and crown and kingdom
For the cross of Calvary.

2 Was there ever king more kingly,
Was there ever love more true?
Oft the story bears repeating,
Old it is, yet ever new;
Man of sorrows and rejected,
Grief He bore so patiently,
Bore the cross, was wounded for us,
That from sin we might be free.

3 Oh! the wondrous love of Jesus,
How its light illumes our way,
And our lives grow daily brighter
Than the sun’s bright shining ray;
Then our hope will find fruition,
When our faith is turn’d to sight,
Face to face with Him who lov’d us,
We shall dwell in pure delight.
