Representative Text

1 Lift me higher, draw me nearer,
Closer, blessed Friend, to Thee;
Love revealing, be Thou dearer,
Dearer than all else to me.

Refrain:
Lift me higher and draw me nearer,
Save me from alluring snares;
Be the promise to made clearer,
‘Tis for me my Saviour cares;
From the shadow of sin and sadness,
Fold me closer to Thy breast;
Lift me higher, draw me nearer,
Till I waken with the blest.

2 Lift me higher, earth’s attraction
Would beguile me from Thy way;
Let me find sweet satisfaction,
In Thy service, day by day. [Refrain]

3 Draw me nearer, lest temptation
Overcome me in the race;
Safe and happy in Thy keeping,
Lord, I sing, Thy saving grace! [Refrain]
