Representative Text

1 Listen to the voice of Jesus calling,
Calling to all the weary and distressed;
Listen to His gracious invitation:
“Come unto Me and I will give you rest.”

Refrain:
“I will give you rest,
I will give you rest,”
“All ye that labor and are heavy laden,”
“Come unto Me and I will give you rest.”

2 Have you carried long some heavy burden?
Do thronging cares your daily life infest?
Listen! as of old,—He still entreats you,—
“Come unto Me and I will give you rest.” [Refrain]

3 Never man such words as these hath spoken,
Promise so dear, to countless millions blest;
Balm for troubled hearts thro’ all the ages,
“Come unto Me and I will give you rest.” [Refrain]

4 Bring to Him the load that sorely presses,
Lean, weary one upon His loving breast;
Whether it be guilt, or pain, or sorrow,
Come unto Me and I will give you rest. [Refrain]
