He loved them unto the end

Representative Text

1. Love first call'd him from the glory,
Called him from the crown, the throne.
Wond'ring angels sang his story,
When he came to save his own.
How he loved his dear disciples!
Gave them ever tend'rest care,
Bore their doubtings, pride and weakness,
Taught them meekness, faith and prayer.

Refrain:
Loving till the end of sorrow
End of toil and pain and strife
Till the New Creation's morrow
Thro' the years of endless life.

2. Lists he to their anxious query,
"Must we perish? Master, see!"
(E'en tho' sleeping, worn and weary,
On the waves of Galilee.)
"Peace!" his clear voice stills the tempest!
Mighty Conqueror! Tender Friend!
Having loved his dear disciples,
How he loved them to the end! [Refrain]

3. Then, as now, to all who knew him
Ever loving to the end
Fain to call the lost world to him
Man'd by scorn "The Sinner's Friend!"
Are you weary, heavy laden?
Would you have him for your Friend?
Seek him now! He changes never,
He will love you to the end! [Refrain]
