Ingolstätter, Andreas, was born at Nürnberg, April 9, 1633, where he became superintendent of the market, and where he died June 7, 1711. In 1672 he was admitted a member of the Pegnitz Shepherd and Flower Order, and was in 1674 crowned as a poet. Of his seven or eight hymns (of which six were contributed to the Pegnitz Andachtsklang, 1673-91) one has passed into English: Hinab geht Christi Weg. [Humility.] First published in the Poetischer Andachtsklang, Nürnberg, 1673, No. 39, in 7 stanzas of 8 lines; and is founded on meditation, No. 261, of Dr. H. Müller's Geistliche Erquickstunden.
