Representative Text

1 Mighty armies marching o’er the field,
Hosts of sin before their banners yield,
Christ is Captain, leading all the way,
The Sunday schools to battle march along today.

Refrain:
See the mighty armies,
Proudly marching on their way,
Hear the call, unto all.
Join the ranks for Christ today,
The victor’s cheer is drawing near,
The evil pow’r cannot endure,
To arms, to arms, with Christ the Captain
The victory is sure.

2 Onward is the motto of the Lord,
Ev’ry heart responsive to the word;
Onward marching, loyal one and all,
With ev’ry soul rejoicing in the Captain’s call. [Refrain]

3 Join the ranks and be a soldier too,
Why stand idle all the season through;
Come and offer, “Master here am I,”
For quickly all your youthful days are passing by. [Refrain]
