I'll Follow Thee

Representative Text

O blessed Saviour, be my guide,
And keep me ever near thy side;
For this I know, where'er it be,
I can with safety follow thee.

Chorus:
I'll follow thee, I'll follow thee,
No matter where thou leadest me;
Thro' time and thro' eternity,
My Saviour, I will follow thee.

2 Tho' skies may be as dark as night,
I'll trust in thee, my Lord, my light;
For at thy voice the shadows flee,
And I with joy will follow thee. [Chorus]

3 Tho' fortune frowns tho' riches fly,
Tho' friends with coldness pass me by,
Then, knowing thou art true to me,
My all in all, I'll follow thee. [Chorus]

4 And when I reach my journey's end,
I'll trust in thee, my dearest Friend;
I'll hear thee saying, "Come with me,"
Then I will gladly follow thee. [Chorus]

At the age of nineteen he joined the M.E. Church, and a few years later he was granted a license to preach the Gospel, and still later he was regularly ordained by Bishop Merrill. However, Mr. Oatman only serves as a local preacher. For many years he was engaged with his father in the mercantile business at Lumberton… Go to person page >
