Representative Text

1 O magnify the Lord with me,
His love is over all,
The fountain of my soul is he,
His love is over all.
O life is such a blessed thing,
When safely sheltered by his wing,
I surely must rejoice and sing,
His love is over all.

Chorus:
His love is over all,
So boundless, full and free,
O blessed never dying love
That paid the price for me.

2 How can I ever go astray,
His love is over all,
My feet he’ll keep from day to day,
His love is over all.
I ne’er can pay the debt I owe,
Unto the Lord who loves me so,
Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
His love is over all. [Chorus]

3 My waking hours he fills with songs,
His love is over all,
I know to whom my soul belongs,
His love is over all.
I would not if I could be free,
His service is a joy to me;
My eyes shall soon His beauty see,
His love is over all. [Chorus]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
