Representative Text

1 O Saviour, I long for thy tender forgiveness,
I long to be free from the bondage of sin;
While here at the door of thy mercy I’m kneeling,
With all my transgressions, oh, let me come in.

Refrain:
Let me come in, oh, let me come in!
Thy blood is sufficient to cleanse me from sin;
A life in thy service I fain would begin,
With all my transgressions, oh, let me come in.

2 How oft have I slighted thy Spirit so gentle,
It strove with me long, but I would not believe,
But now in my sorrow I come, and repenting,
I ask, I entreat, thee my soul to receive. [Refrain]

3 ‘Tis true I deserve not the least of thy notice,
Yet none are excluded from seeking thy face,
My heart is o’erwhelmed, my spirit is broken,
Oh, pity and make me a child of thy grace. [Refrain]

4 ‘Tis done, my Redeemer, oh, how shall I thank thee,
Thy tender compassion my soul doth restore,
I hear the sweet voice of thy Spirit that whispers,
Arise, thou are pardoned, go, sin thou no more. [Refrain]
