Representative Text

1 O Savior, Thou hast left our sphere,
Ascending up to worlds on high;
But all around our eyes can hear
Thy suff’ring children’s cry.

Refrain:
Where they need us, Savior, lead us—
Thou hast trod this path before;
To the sighing; helpless, dying,
To the dwellings of God’s poor.

2 Like lambs without a shelt’ring fold
They roam in want and wretchedness;
The wintry frost with breath of cold,
Brings naught but keen distress. [Refrain]

3 Still open stands Bethesda’s door,
And Jerico has still her blind;
We tread where Jesus trod before
With mercies for mankind. [Refrain]
