Oh! That My Burdened Soul

O that my burdened soul

Author: H. P. Thomas
Tune: FERGUSON
Published in 2 hymnals

Representative Text

1 Oh! that my burdened soul
Could sweet relief obtain;
Give Jesus all my heart's control
And cease to suffer pain.

2 I long to find the way
That leads from sin and death,
And when 'tis found, I hope to stay
Till my expiring breath.

3 I pant for living streams
That flow from Calvary's fount;
My thirsty soul will die, it seems
Or scale redemption's mount.

4 O Jesus, stretch Thy hand,
And rescue my poor soul;
And bid me rise at Thy command,
And all my thought control.

5 Unchain my captive soul
From sin's devouring cell;
O fill my heart with joy untold–
Let peace within me dwell.

AMEN.
