Founded On the Rock

Representative Text

1. On the Rock of Ages founded,
Safe retreat for souls oppressed;
Long in desert wilds I wandered,
Here at last I found my rest.

Chorus:
Rock of Ages! Rock of Ages!
How secure on thee we stand;
Rock of Ages! Rock of Ages!
Save us from the sinking sand.

2. On the Rock of Ages founded,
'Mid the storms and wrecks of time;
On this Rock now safely standing,
Great Redeemer, thou art mine. [Chorus]

3. On the Rock of Ages founded,
Here my house securely stands;
Would you have a sure foundation?
Do not build upon the sands. [Chorus]
