Representative Text

1 “Our Lord His coming will delay,
He will not yet arrive;
We need not fill our lamps today,”
So thought the virgins five.
That very night the thrilling cry
Awoke them from their sleep,
“Behold, behold, the bridegroom comes!
Go forth your Lord to meet!”

Refrain:
At such an hour you think it not,
The Bridegroom will return;
Then for His coming watch and wait
With lamp that bright doth burn;
That you may hear, with joy, not fear,—
“Behold, the Bridegroom comes!”

2 Let life no longer empty be,
No more in darkness live;
Since Jesus offers full and free
The Spirit’s light to give.
He longs that Spirit to bestow,
Your pray’r He’ll not deny.
Behold, behold, the bridegroom comes!
Be ready for the cry. [Refrain]

3 The Bridegroom comes, how sweet the call,
To those who trust His grace;
Who find in Him their all in all,
And long to see His face;
For He will come to crown His own
With crowns of rich reward;
And they shall dwell near God’s great throne,
Forever with the Lord! [Refrain]
