Open wide each heart

Representative Text

1. Our Saviour loved the children dear,
When he was on this earth;
They ran to him, and felt no fear
That he would check their mirth.

Chorus:
Then open wide each heart to him,
On this, our children's day;
And let us gladly walk with him,
The life, the truth, the way.

2. He loved to take them on his knee,
And stroke their waving curls,
And hear them laugh in merry glee,
Those happy boys and girls. [Chorus]

3. And he is still the children's friend,
He hears them when they pray;
And kindly watches over them
At home, in school, at play [Chorus]

4. And suffer all the little ones
To come to Me, said he;
His little jewels, fair and bright,
We ev'ry one would be. [Chorus]
