Washed Whiter than the Snow

Representative Text

1 Out on sin’s dark mountain,
Lost in bitter woe,
Jesus found and washed me
Whiter than the snow.

Refrain:
Whiter than snow,
Whiter than snow;
Jesus found and washed me
Whiter than the snow.

2 Once my robes were scarlet,
Red with crimson glow,
Now they’re pure and spotless,
Whiter than the snow. [Refrain]

3 Now His presence guides me
Everywhere I go,
And His grace still keeps me
Whiter than the snow. [Refrain]

4 Sinner, why reject Him?
Harder still you grow;
Come and let Him wash you
Whiter than the snow. [Refrain]

Select Hymns, 1911 (Timeless Truths)

Author: William J. Henry

Originally from Ohio, Henry was an early leader in the Holiness Movement near Boyertown, Pennsylvania. In 1889 he, answered a call to hold revival meetings in eastern Pennsylvania. Denominational leaders had received requests from congregations there, but had no one to send. Though Henry was only 22 years old, he proved a very effective organizer. He toured eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey for several months each year till 1895. He became a very active evangelist and song writer, holding meetings in every American state and in Britain. --www.hymntime.com/tch… Go to person page >
