Representative Text

1 Pledged to the service of Jesus,
Ready to go at His call,
Seeking His glory day after day,
Who is the Lord of all.

Refrain:
Pledged to the service of Jesus,
Trying our best to give,
Pledged to the service of Jesus,
Faithful to Him while we live.
Pledged to the service of Jesus,
Joyful our lives should be,
Walking His way, till the close of life’s day,
Glad at heart are we.

2 Pledged to the service of Jesus,
Beautiful, wonderful thought,
Light are His burdens, easy to bear,
Christ hath our ransom bought. [Refrain]

3 Pledged to the service of Jesus,
Willingly doing our part,
Loyal of purpose, faithful and true,
Singing for joy of heart. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
