نكّس رأسَه وماتْ
تَم نعم والنصر قد
تم ووقتُ الحرب فاتْ

2 قد تم ما أُنبي بهِ
من سالفات الحِقَبِ
كان لنا ما لم يكنْ
لملكٍ ولا نبي

3 قد تم يا ابن الله إذ
غلبتهم ممتلكاً
لكن نرى بالحزن ما
نحيا به موتاً لكا

4 فلنسمع الصوت الذي
يُعطي السرورَ الأعظما
يُسمَع صداه في السما
والأرض مع ما فيهما

Samuel Stennett was born at Exeter, in 1727. His father was pastor of a Baptist congregation in that city; afterwards of the Baptist Chapel, Little Wild Street, London. In this latter pastorate the son succeeded the father in 1758. He died in 1795.
