Representative Text

1 Shout, shout rejoicing, your glad praises voicing,
High through the starlight His banners fling,
Tell out the story of Christ and His glory,
Forward! and worship the Saviour King.

Refrain:
Shout! glad praises voicing,
On, hail Him rejoicing;
Praise Him, King of earth and heaven,
Jesus, Lord of all.

2 Bear to each nation His wondrous salvation,
March on where shineth the Day-spring bright,
On, boldly pressing, His dear name confessing,
Hail Him forever! the world’s true Light. [Refrain]

3 Haste, loyal mortals, see heav’n’s golden portals
Swing wide, for cometh the welcome Guest,
Jesus, victorious, whose reign shall be glorious,
Gift of the Father, divinely blest. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
