Representative Text

1 Somebody cares when the way grows long,
When weary at heart, and sad;
What tho’ your troubles around you throng,
The Saviour will make you glad.

Refrain:
Somebody cares, somebody cares,
‘Tis Jesus, your Friend so true;
Somebody cares, do not despair,
Somebody cares for you.

2 Somebody cares when you feel afraid,
With no one to help or cheer;
Look unto Christ, He will give you aid;
Jesus is always near. [Refrain]

3 Somebody cares, ‘tis the Lord of all,
Who came down from heav’n above;
Never in vain is your feeble call
To reach His great heart of love. [Refrain]

Author: Lizzie DeArmond

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
