Loyal Hearts, March On

Representative Text

1 Stand for the right, strong in his might!
Loyal hearts with gladness forward pressing;
Faithful, obey his will alway,
Thanking God each day for ev’ry blessing.

Refrain:
Loyal hearts and true, march on,
Forward in the narrow way;
Lifting up his cross, march on,
Follow Jesus day by day.

2 Onward with song, conquer the wrong,
Follow now the Captain of salvation;
Thro’ toil and pain, thro’ loss and gain,
Tell his love to ev’ry tribe and nation. [Refrain]

3 Steadfast and true, willing to do,
March along, the conflict will be glorious;
Tumults shall cease, rest come with peace,
Soon the cross of Christ will be victorious. [Refrain]

Author: Lizzie DeArmond

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
