Representative Text

1 Stars shining in the midnight gloom,
Keep vigil o’er the garden tomb;
Where rests He who on Calv’ry bore our burdens,
Rest, O rest, Crucified Redeemer!
Behold, behold, the portals evermore unbar!

Refrain:
Forth from the tomb, lo, He comes in conqu’ring splendor,
Forth from the gloom, into light of endless day;
O hail Him, Praise ye His name and your loyal homage render,
Praise ye the King who hath conqu’red death for aye.

2 Stars shining with a silv’ry light,
Gleam softly on the lilies white;
Bright splendor o’er the garden glade is falling,
Rest, O rest, Crucified Redeemer!
Behold, behold, the portals evermore unbar! [Refrain]

3 Stars shining ‘mid the olive shade,
Shed glory o’er a lonely glade,
Strife over, Calv’ry’s bitter conflict ended,
Rest, O rest, Crucified Redeemer!
Behold, behold, the portals evermore unbar! [Refrain]
