Representative Text

1 “Suffer the children to come unto Me!”
Thus said the Master of earth and of sea;
Jesus, who loveth the little ones still,
Blesses them now if they do His good will.

Refrain:
“Suffer the children to come unto Me!”
Thus said the Master of earth and of sea;
I verily, verily, say unto thee.
Suffer the children to come unto Me!”

2 With His own blood the dear children He bought,
And all the lambs in His bosom are brought
To the green pastures the still waters by;
Christ, the Good Shepherd, their needs will supply. [Refrain]

3 When the dear Savior was here upon earth,
Showing to mankind a little child’s worth,
He said, with children and babes on His knees,
“Like to the kingdom of Heaven are these.” [Refrain]

4 Samuel and Mary and Daniel and Ruth
Worshiped the Savior in spirit and truth;
Jacob and Joseph and Moses of Old
Taught that the children may enter the fold. [Refrain]

5 Children once shouted hosannas of yore;
Children may still their dear Savior adore;
Youthful and aged glad anthems shall raise;
Songs of the children shall perfect God’s praise. [Refrain]
