That in the house of God
Bids us appear.
"Children of God," it seems
Softly to say,
"Haste to your Father's house, hasten to pray."

2 Oft as the Sabbath chimes summon to pray,
May we their holy call
Gladly obey,
That, when the last sad knell
For us shall sound,
Ready our Judge to meet we may be found.

John E. Bode (b. St. Pancras, England, 1816; d. Castle Camps, Cambridgeshire, England, 1874) A fine student at Christ Church, Oxford, England, and a prominent scholar who gave the famous Bampton Lectures ("for the exposition and defense of the Christian faith") at Oxford in 1855, was a rector in Westwell, Oxfordshire, and in Castle Camps.
