Representative Text

1 The angel song of Bethlehem
Thrills on the midnight air,
While shepherds hear, “Good will to men,”
From radiant forms so fair;
In sweetest tones with harps of gold,
The wondrous word they bring:
“Behold in yonder manger old,
The world’s long-promised King.”

Refrain:
Glory to God in the highest,
Peace and good-will to men!
Hail to the world’s Redeemer,
Born now in Bethlehem!

2 The angel song of Bethlehem
Still sounds o’er all the earth,
And wintry skies, with stars agem,
Still shine as at His birth;
The glorious star the wise men saw,
Leads to that humble shrine,
And wise men now with holy awe,
Still hear that song divine. [Refrain]

3 The angel throng of Bethlehem,
Unseen by mortal eyes,
With rapturous praise in theses glad days,
Fill all the Christmas skies;
With radiant robes and harps of gold
They sing the old, old song,
The sweetest story ever told,
His ransom for our wrong. [Refrain]
