Daniel, Robert T., was born June 10, 1773, in Middlesex Co., Virginia, and removed in boyhood to Orange Co., North Carolina. He was engaged for some time as a blacksmith and cabinet-maker. In 1803 he was ordained to the Baptist Ministry, and acted as a missioner in North and South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Besides being an agent for various Baptist Missionary and Education Societies, he was an eminent revivalist. He died at Paris, Tennessee, 1840. His hymn for Immersion, “Lord, in humble, sweet submission," appeared in Broaddus's Dover Selection, 1828-31, in 6 stanzas of 4 lines; Winchell's Additional Hymns, 1832; and is given in Spurgeon's Our Own Hymn Book, 1866.
