Representative Text

1 The highway of the King is free,
The lowly and the rich are there;
The welcome is to you and me,
The beauty of the way to share.
Companionship divinely sweet,
In harmony ascends our song;
We’ll rest, beyond, our weary feet,
And join the everlasting throng.

Refrain:
I’m walking in the King’s highway,
I’m walking in the King’s highway,
With Jesus my Companion, Friend,
I’m walking in the King’s highway.

2 I’m walking in the King’s highway,
In robes made white in blood divine;
And lest my feet should ever stray,
I firmly press my hand in Thine.
Forget me not, my Saviour, Friend,
Nor leave me to the cold world’s frown;
While life shall last, till days shall end,
With Thee alway I would be found. [Refrain]

3 Secure from sin’s delusive smile,
I rest my heard upon Thy breast;
I walk the way with Thee the while,
Awaiting soon the heav’nly rest.
Nor pain, nor strife, nor sorrow’s wound,
Nor anguish deep, when life is driven
By storm ashoal, shall e’er be found,
To mar my higher hope of heav’n. [Refrain]
