Representative Text

1 The light of Christmas morning steals
Across the drifted snow;
And o’er the hills the distant bells
Are toiling sweet and low;
Then let us lift our voices loud,
And sing with joy and cheer,
For Christmas is the dearest day
In all the happy year.

Refrain:
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Praise the Savior,
Hallelujah! hallelujah!
Crown Him Lord and king.

2 The star that rose o’er Bethlehem
To hail the Savior’s birth,
Ere morning’s rosy tide of light,
With glory filled the earth;
Shine in our souls, and dawn again
When Christmas draweth near,
For Christmas is the dearest day
In all the happy year. [Refrain]

3 The words the waking shepherds heard
From angels in the skies,
When God unbound with mighty hand
The gates of Paradise,
Are heard again at Christmastide
In strains of music clear,
And Christmas is the dearest day
In all the happy year. [Refrain]
