Representative Text

1 The Lord came down to the Garden of Eden
And walked with Adam beneath the tree;
In seasons of sorrow, when I most need him,
Why will he not come and walk with me?

Chorus:
Yes, he will come, O, yes, he will come,
When I am needing his sympathy;
When Jesus sees me walking in sorrow,
Then he will come and walk with me.

2 Three hundred years he was walking with Enoch,
And then God took him with him to be;
If my heart is longing to be more like him,
Why will he not come and walk with me? [Chorus]

3 The Lord came down to the three Hebrew children,
And in the furnace he set them free;
If he walked with Daniel among the lions,
Why will he not come and walk with me? [Chorus]

4 Our Lord once walked with disciples to Emmaus,
And made their sorrows and sadness flee;
If he is forever the same blessed Saviour,
Why will he not come and walk with me? [Chorus]

At the age of nineteen he joined the M.E. Church, and a few years later he was granted a license to preach the Gospel, and still later he was regularly ordained by Bishop Merrill. However, Mr. Oatman only serves as a local preacher. For many years he was engaged with his father in the mercantile business at Lumberton… Go to person page >
