1. The Master is calling, O come, let us go
And glean in his vineyard today;
The harvest is great and the lab'rers are few,
Lord, send in more reapers we pray;
The fields are all white with the ripe golden grain,
The harvest will now soon be done;
Go work in his vineyard, 'twill not be in vain,
If souls for the Master are won.

Chorus:
Out in the Master's vineyard,
Seeking for souls astray;
Working most gladly for Jesus,
Out in his vineyard today.

2. Then out to the harvest field seeking no rest
Till Jesus our King shall be here;
For him let us each now be doing our best,
For soon, very soon, he'll apear;
Press on with the work that he gives us to do;
Go work in his vineyard today,
Go, seeking each moment his blest will to know,

Barnes, Franklin D. (Barre, Vermont, 1837--June 5, 1916, Worcester, Massachusetts). When 12, his family moved to Colbrook, Mass. There, in addition to a public school education, he became proficient on the violin. In 1858, he settled in Worcester, Mass. After visiting several different churches, he was baptized in a stream at Lincoln Square in January, 1859, through the ice, after which he walked a half mile with the minister before they could change out of their wet clothing. For more than forty years, he served the Advent Christian Church in Worcester as deacon and song-leader. He was superintendent of their Sunday School from 1875 to 1900.
