Tune: AWAKE, AND AWAY
Published in 7 hymnals

Representative Text

1 The morning light flingeth
Its wakening ray;
And as the day bringeth
The work of the day,
The happy heart singeth,
Awake, and away!

Chorus:
Awake, awake, and away, away!
Awake, awake, and away, away!
The happy heart singeth,
Awake, and away!

2 No life can be dreary,
When work is delight;
Though evening be weary,
Rest cometh at night,
And all will be cheery,
If faithful and right. [Chorus]

3 When duty is pleasure,
And labour is joy,
How sweet is the leisure
Of ended employ!
Then only can pleasure
Be free from alloy. [Chorus]

Amen.

In 1860 she left Worcester on her father resigning the Rectory of St. Nicholas, and resided at different periods in Leamington, and at Caswall Bay, Swansea, broken by visits to Switzerland, Scotland, and North Wales.
