Representative Text

1 There’s a very sweet old story that I heard long, long ago,
Of a land of joy and beauty, fairer than this world below.
There no tie of love can sever, thro’ the streets of gold we’ll roam
With the friend who here have loved us, where we reach that happy home.

Refrain:
Oh, that dear old story, that precious story,
That sweet old story of our Savior’s home above;
Oh, that dear old story, that sweet old story,
That blessed olden story of a home where all is love.

2 Oh, I love to tell the story, it is very dear to me,
For our Savior dwells in glory, just beyond the crystal sea;
He has made for us a mansion where we’ll see His blessed face,
There will be no care or sorrow in that peaceful holy place. [Refrain]

3 We some day with joy and gladness to that happy land will soar;
Oh, how sweet will be our welcome when we rest upon the shore;
There we’ll sing His praise in glory, with the friends that we shall meet
And again that sweet old story of his love we may repeat. [Refrain]
