Representative Text

1 There's a voice that is calling the children today,
Like that of the Lord, saying, "Come unto me!"
With the sweetness of heav'n and the breath of the May,
Proclaiming to children a glad jubilee.

Chorus:
Oh, welcome the beautiful May.
While nature all music employs,
We'll sing to God's praise for the May,
And to Jesus, the Spring of our joys.

2 "Lo! the winter is past, and the flowers appear,
The singing of birds is now heard ev'rywhere!
But the gladness of children to God is more dear,
For theirs is the kingdom--they have the Lord's care. [Chorus]

3 Over all the fair land, in their beauty and bloom,
Their heart warm and free have a springtime of grace,
And the fruits of their summer shall cheer the world's gloom,
And brighten and gladden each desolate place. [Chorus]
