Jesus on the sea

Representative Text

1 They were toiling all the night,
'Mid the tempest on the sea,
And the Master was alone upon the shore,
And the waves were rolling high,
On the stormy Galilee,
As with weary hand they piled the lab'ring oar.

Chorus:
Jesus, the Master, comes walking the sea,
Hushing to silence that wild Galilee;
Yes, it is Jesus, the dear, blessed Jesus,
Jesus, the Savior, is walking the sea.

2 When in danger and in doubt,
And the storm was at its height,
And they knew not that the Savior was at hand,
Then about the Morning Watch,
He came walking on the sea,
To bring the weary toilers to the land. [Chorus]

3 "Do not fear," He cried aloud;
"Cheer up," friends, "for it is I;"
As He walked upon the waves, and kindly spoke,
And the winds were hushed to sleep,
For He calmed both sea and sky,
At His word the mighty tempest quickly broke. [Chorus]

4 So in sadness and in grief,
When we're filled with anxious fear,
And the darkness gathered on thy troubled way,
'Tis thy Savior walks the deep,
And He always will be near,
For His presence is thy safety night and day. [Chorus]
